Basic life support (BLS) training reinforces healthcare professionals’ understanding of the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, performing CPR, choking relief, using an AED, and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival.

 

 

The American Heart Association strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. This course is for the employees of Escambia County Public Safety ONLY

The AHA’s ACLS course builds on the foundation of lifesaving BLS skills, emphasizing the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, early and continuous high-quality CPR, and high-performing teams. The course reflects science and education from the 2020 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

This course is designed for healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for personnel in emergency response

Completion of the Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work is required prior to the ACLS Course date.  You will need to print the Precourse Self-Assessment Exam and the Certificate of completion of the Precourse Work.  This will be collected at the beginning of the course.  If you are unable to print, you can email a copy to hrharvell@myescambia.com.

The PALS Provider Course aims to improve outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills. The course includes a series of case scenario practices with simulations that reinforce important concepts.

 

Completion of the Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work is required prior to the PALS Course date.

This IV Course is designed for EMTs who are interested in learning how to initiate IV access and administer IV therapy while employed by Escambia County Emergency Medical Services. Completion of this course will certify you as proficient with Intravenous access, which will allow you, as an EMT, to start IVs on patients at the direction of the attending Paramedic on the ambulance.

This Course will consist of:

  • In-House Lecture including quiz
  • Equipment Familiarization and practice lab
  • In-Field Practice which consist of 30 IV attempts

Final Certification will be at the discretion of the Training Division and Medical Direction.

In order to be eligible for enrollment, you MUST:

  • Be employed with ECEMS as an EMT-B for 6 months prior to class. (Part Time or Full Time)
  • Have all credentials up to date, including EMT License and BLS.

This Course is not valid for CEUs at this time.

This course follows all regulations in concordance of FL Statute 64J-1.004 (H) and has been approved by the ECEMS Medical Director.

This course is for Escambia County EMS Paramedic's only.

This course is designed as the initial introduction to mechanical ventilation as well as introducing you to the Hamilton T1 ventilator.
